Ned Goldberg - Executive Director and Webmaster

Ned Goldberg retired from FDIC in December of 2013 after 12 years at the Corporation and 34 years total service in 7 different federal entities including the Presidential Management Intern program.  He joined FDIC in 2001 as Chief Information Security Officer and Deputy Director for Information Security and Privacy and was the principal for the Corporation's IT Security and Privacy Programs. He received the Chairman’s Award for Excellence twice during his tenure at FDIC.  Ned has a BS from Cornell University, an MBA and MSW from Columbia University and completed Harvard University’s Senior Executive Fellows Program.  Upon retirement, Ned helped found Centerpoint Inc., a cybersecurity firm serving federal and state government entities but he later decided to retire again and shed his tie.

Ned currently is on the boards of two nonprofits and involved in other community organizations:

He co-founded, sings in and currently serves as a board member of the Washington Men’s Camerata, one of the finest non profession men’s voice music groups in the U.S.  He has served as vice president, treasurer, and executive director in past years.  This nonprofit 501c3 organization has been self-sustaining since 1984 and has performed at the Kennedy Center, White House, and foreign embassies, as well as, with national symphony orchestras.

He co-founded Helping Hands University Park Maryland.  Helping Hands is a nonprofit community organization modeled after the “elder village” movement.  In essence, it seeks to provide community support to help seniors and individuals with disabilities within our town remain in their homes through volunteer activities, educational and social programs.

He also is the team leader of The University Park, Maryland Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).  CERT teams were originally organized by FEMA after the Whittier Narrows California earthquake.  In essence CERT programs educate individuals about disaster preparedness and hazards that may impact their areas and trains them in basic disaster response skills such as fire safety, light search and rescue, and disaster medical operations.  If addition, CERT supports our local police and fire departments with auxiliary traffic control as requested and aid stations at races and community events – for example the marine marathon.

Ned and his wife Susan live in University Park, Maryland

Ned was an integral part of the AFDICA organizing committee, served on the board for 5 years, and currently continues serving as webmaster for our web site and the membership services team, in addition to his role on the annual meeting planning committee.
