Kathleen Tesi - Director At Large

Kathleen Tesi joined the FDIC in 2000 to develop the Corporation’s first-ever WorkLife programs and services.  During her tenure in this position Kathleen field-tested, negotiated with NCUA, and ultimately established the FDIC’s Telework and Alternative Work Schedule Programs.  She also developed Corporate-wide employee assistance and counseling services, Critical Incident Support Services (which were used to assist employees in New York following the events of September 11th and beyond), a Corporate Employee Information and Referral Service entitled WorkLife Connections, Elder Care services, Family Support and Parent Education services and training, Personal Financial Management training, and a broad menu of Transition Support Services for employees retiring or separating from the FDIC. Although Kathleen maintained Management of Corporate WorkLife Programs throughout her time with the FDIC, she eventually moved on to take over responsibility of Benefits Operations for the Corporation.  This included Supervision of all direct employee support related to Corporate and Federal Benefits Programs— to include. Retirement counseling, Open Season enrollment and elections, and New Employee Orientation and support nationwide.  Kathleen also served as a key member of the Team that managed the closure of the Office of Thrift Supervisions; and successfully transitioned employees and their benefits to the FDIC or OCC.  She also served on a special Community Housing Task Force in support of Gulf Coast citizens who lost their homes following the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.  Ultimately Kathleen was selected as the Assistant Director for Human Resources.  In this position she provided management oversight for all Corporate Benefits-related programs and Services to include the FDIC Savings Plan, all Cafeteria Benefits programs (to include FDIC Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and Flexible Spending Programs) as well as all WorkLife and Career Management Program and Services.  During Kathleen’s tenure in this position, the FDIC repeatedly came in first as one of the Federal Government’s Best Places Work with Corporate WorkLife and Benefits Programs being cited as top in class.

Prior to working at the FDIC, Kathleen worked for 20 years with the Department of Defense and the Department of the Air Force.  

Kathleen retired in 2016 after 36 years with the federal government.  She currently resides in Florida where she enjoys walking on the beach and kayaking on the river.  She serves on the Board of her neighborhood Homeowners Association (and is starting a Helping Hands Group for neighbors in need) and has volunteered for the Turtle Preservation Society and Surfrider Foundation.  Kathleen enjoys spending time with her friends and family and still has quite a few destinations remaining on her travel bucket list!
